Hi.
As you may have heard by now, it is possible to modify your Essence and
Essence II textures to work with Imagine 2.9. Well, I've known this for a
while, but didn't feel free to publicize it. Since the cat's out of the bag,
I've decided to distribute my patch program.
To use it:
Copy your Essence and EssAtts folder into your Imagine 2.9 folder.
Run a CLI.
Change into the new Essence folder.
For each directory:
Change into the directory.
SPAT esstoim29 #?
That's it!
The actual change is a version number change. You need to make a copy of the
tree, as above, because Imagine 2.0 and Imagine 2.9 check for individual
version numbers.
esstoim29 also renames your textures with .itx extensions, because otherwise
the Imagine file requestor would ignore them. You don't need to add the .itx
extension to the texture instances in your old objects.
I guess this means that I can now admit that the 60-frame ray-traced Magic
Lantern anim for the Picasso which I'm about to release was done with Imagine
2.9, Essence I, and Essence II. :-)
